Black Country Women’s Aid (BCWA)’s fantastic Firewalk fundraiser returns to the Dudley Arms, Himley, on 1st November, raising essential funds for domestic abuse and modern slavery victims.

BCWA employees, staff from event sponsors HSBC and Pavers, and supporters from all over the Black Country will walk over hot coals in an inspiring and fun sponsored challenge. Their first-hand experience of helping local women, men and children affected by domestic abuse and modern slavery is inspiring them to go one step further and help raise vital funds.

There’s still time to join them, book your place in this exciting challenge by visiting our events page here or emailing fundraising@blackcountrywomensaid.co.uk

Sara Ward, BCWA CEO, adds:

“We are so excited to have Firewalk return for a second successful year. This time we are fundraising for accessible, safe and secure refuge bungalows for people with disabilities when they first flee abuse.

“We know that our clients face multiple challenges, so we work hard to bring down barriers one by one to get them the support they need. The new refuge bungalows will be a safe space for people with disabilities to start their recovery journeys, and our fundraising also helps us buy essential items to help them get started.”

Manisha, an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor adds: “Domestic abuse can destroy lives and it can happen to anyone. Everyone has the right to feel safe and have a life free from violence and abuse.  Domestic abuse is a cause that is close to my heart, I have supported hundreds of women understand and believe there is a way out. The money made will help create safe spaces for adults and children who need that support to start again.

“We see the negative impact of having to leave home on clients.  Some families have to leave everything behind. So the money we raise through Firewalk is a lifeline and will make such a huge difference.”

People are also invited to hot foot it down to the Dudley Arms from 6pm to cheer on our fantastic firewalkers, watch our spectacular fire performers and have the chance to win some amazing prizes in our raffle and tombola. There will also be delicious hot food, a bar and plenty of pre-Christmas shopping opportunities at our specially curated stalls selling sweet treats and artisanal gifts.
