Both the law firm and charity celebrate 40 years of serving the community in 2026. BCWA is thrilled to receive £4,000 from Gangar and Company Solicitors, or forty times £100, to mark this milestone. The generous donation will help families who are staying in BCWA safe houses while they recover from the trauma of domestic abuse.

Black Country Women’s Aid has been working with victim-survivors of domestic abuse and interpersonal violence since 1986. We listen, support and care and will continue to do so for as long as we are needed.

However, we couldn’t do what we do without the support from companies like Gangar and Company Solicitors, our amazing staff and volunteers and our fantastic supporters. We work in collaboration with our communities to reach more people, raise funds for vital services and advocate for victim-survivors.

BCWA is asking people to join in the celebrations and take part in our ’40 for 40th’ campaign. We are looking for:

  • 40 brave people to do a summer skydive
  • 40 teams to join in with ‘Cut out Abuse,’ a sponsored walk by the canal in autumn
  • 40 people who love baking to hold cake sales during the year
  • ‘40’-themed ideas that can help make this year one to remember

There will be lots of other special 40th anniversary events too. Everyone is welcome to get involved in any way they can.

Sara Ward, BCWA CEO said:

“We have been working with victim-survivors for 40 years and we build services around what local people tell us they need to feel safe and supported.

“We are so grateful to Gangar and Company Solicitors for their gift to our ’40 for 40th’ campaign. Our fundraising focus this year is children and family support, and this donation will be used for activities that will help mothers and children to heal together after the trauma of domestic violence. Thank you so much.”

Surjit Singh Gangar from Gangar and Company Solicitors said:

We are proud to have served the community for 40 years and to continue our support for BCWA with this anniversary gift. We are thrilled that it is going towards family activitiesfor mothers and children in refuge to help them to start again and live lives free from fear and violence.”
