Surjit Singh Gangar from Gangar and Company Solicitors in West Bromwich is donating over £5,000 to go towards supporting women, children and men who are victims of abuse and exploitation. His family, wife Bimla, son Manvir and daughter Serena asked him if he would like a party to celebrate turning 70 next February but he decided that he would rather use the money to support local charity, Black Country Women’s Aid.

His generous donation is being shared with 70 families living in BCWA refuges to help with basic living costs over the Christmas period.

Mr Gangar said.

“Turning 70 is a time for celebration but also reflection, and at a time when so many people are struggling, I wanted to do what I could to help. Black Country Women’s Aid is located very close to Gangar Solicitors on West Bromwich High Street, and I know what a fantastic job they do supporting some of our community’s most vulnerable people. I’m proud to support them and help some wonderful families to rebuild their lives.”

Sara Ward, Chief Executive of Black Country Women’s Aid, said.

“This is an incredibly generous donation that will bring a bit of festive cheer to 70 families who have experienced significant trauma and are now starting again in the safe haven of BCWA refuges.  We are so grateful to have such kind donors like Mr Gangar; we couldn’t do what we do without your support thank you!”
