Sexual Violence Services (SVS) are inviting applications to this new, challenging and exciting position into an established but developing area in Black Country Women’s Aid.
SVS consists of a team of Independent Sexual Violence Advisers (ISVA’s and CHISVA’s) delivering across the Black Country supporting both men, women, children and young people from 5 upwards. SVS work alongside Therapeutic Services, who offer counselling to traumatised victims, gaining insight and understanding to be able to move forward, letting go of guilt and shame, providing a non-judgemental environment to safely explore and move through one of the most devastating crimes to have experienced.
ISVA’s & CHISVA’s work with victims of sexual offences, violence, abuse and exploitation. ISVA’s provide advocacy and support to victims of recent and historic incidents with those victims who have chosen to report or not. ISVA’s work closely with a number of partner agencies, West Midlands Police, Health and Black Country Women’s Aid Domestic Abuse Services as part of their internal cross service offer. Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System (CJS), the law and how trauma affects victims is a skills set, whilst diverse, is required to be able to be effective in this role. The Senior will be operationally supporting the ISVA team and also holding a reduced caseload, as part of our new and multi skilled team.
The SV Senior be pivotal, being the link between the team and the strategic leads. The role will give the successful candidate the opportunity not only to develop their own managerial skills internally, but to gain an understanding of the wider regional picture. The NHS National Sexual Violence Strategy is currently under review with the intention to embed its principals within all local authorities in the Black Country. The successful candidate will be a part of and contribute to new and innovative ways of working with partners, translating successful joint funding bids with external partners into an operationally effective service, addressing gaps and most importantly of all to the benefit of our clients.

The ability to support the team to safely deliver this service with an array of interventions and responses, to include navigating the CJS, helping clients understand all of their options to be able to make the best decisions for themselves, understanding risk and enable them to back control over their lives.
